Club Meeting "Finally Madagscar" and Annual Meeting
Speaker :The February club speaker is Chris Rohwer.

Photography is Chris excuse to be outside. Whether traveling the world or exploring his own backyard, he aims to capture light, lines, and moments that convey what he sees and feels. Though he owned a camera since college, photography has become a focused pursuit in recent years.
Raised by adventurous parents, his escapades include hitchhiking through Europe, trekking in Nepal, and rafting the Grand Canyon. Together with his wife and best friend, Robin, he has travelled this great land and beyond — though sometimes she leaves the “adventure” parts to him alone. Adding a camera to these experiences has given him a new perspective on the places they visit.
Robin is now a full-time artist, and they share a small studio and gallery at 418 South Gay Street, where they meet the nicest people and share their craft. They have two beautiful daughters and two wonderful grandsons.

Chris — and possibly Robin — will share images and stories from their recent journey to Madagascar, an island nation off the east coast of Africa. One of the poorest yet most biodiverse places on Earth, travel focused on its remarkable wildlife, including many species of lemurs, is a growing industry. Make plans to attend the February Club meeting.

SANP Annual Meeting
Each year three members of the SANP Board of Directors complete their three-year term of office. Three new directors will be elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting on February 24th. The SANP board of directors have recommended Paul Driessche, Jim Jeswald and Greg Long for election to a three-year term on the Board of Directors. These candidates are enthusiastic and active members of SANP and have all expressed a desire to make positive contributions to the club.
All of them have skills and talents that unquestionably qualify them to be directors of our organization. Your support is requested in their election and in the future as they volunteer their service for the betterment of the club.

Awards Night
The February Club meeting night is the Awards Night for SANP where those receiving Presidential Citations for their assistance to President Jerry Whaley are recognized. The Chester A. Massey Distinguished Service Award will be presented this year. Make plans to see who is recognized.
Chester A. Massey Distinguished Service Award
The Chester A. Massey Distinguished Service Award may be awarded by the Board of Directors in recognition of at least five years of outstanding contributions to the spirit and objectives of the club. The Chester A. Massey Distinguished Service Award embodies the name of the founder of the Southern Appalachian Nature Photographers organization and is the premier award of the SANP. The award comes with a certificate and a plaque. The names of all recipients are on a plaque displayed at the welcome table during our club meeting night.
The Chester A. Massey recipients recommend any individual(s), to the Board of Directors who make the final decision on who will be recognized. While the requirement is at least a minimum of five years of outstanding contributions to the club, all of the recipients have had years of service to the SANP club far beyond the five-year requirement.
Check Website or Facebook For Meeting Status
The January meeting was canceled by President Jerry Whaley due to the weather. Notice was sent out by email, along with posting on the event calendar and website. While it is easy to understand a meeting being canceled due to weather issues, there are other unforeseen reasons that could result in a meeting have to be canceled. If the Pellissippi Campus is closed or the Goins Building is closed, any club activity would have to be canceled. This may never happen, but it could. It is wise to check the Events page on the website and the SANP Facebook page for any event that may be canceled for reasons beyond SANP control.
