Meeting place: Cracker Barrel 716 N Campbell Station Rd.

Registration available:  Beginning today

For those interested in travelling to the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge Center to see lots of sandhill cranes froma different perspective. This is a four hour drive from Knoxville.  We will meet at the Cracker Barrel on Campbell Station Road and depart there for the drive.

Once we arrive in the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge area, we will find a location for lunch. After lunch we will travel to the Visitor Center at the Wildlife Refuge. After checking out the Visitor Center, we will walk to the observation tower area or to the blinds at Wheeler and photograph ducks, eagles, sandhill cranes, whooping cranes, or whatever is available.

Friday morning we will visit an area near the visitor center for photographing birds as the sunrises.  After the Wheeler Wildlife Refuge Center opens we will check out more of the photography options at the blinds and observation tower.

We will photograph as long as everyone is interested before making the four hour drive back to the Knoxville area.  We will be leaving as the Sandhill Crane Festival begins the weekend of the 11-12th at Wheeler.

Expect the weather to be in the 30s. Come prepared for the weather.

If you are planning to attend and are interested in carpooling or sharing a room with someone, encourage them to sign up. If you are interested in sharing a room or carpooling with someone that is attending, send me an email.

We will organize as a group at Cracker Barrel.  You will need to check your email regularly as I will provide those signing up with hotels that are being used and those riding with someone.

Registration is limited to club members due to interest of several nonclub members.  Club members have priority.

IF YOU SIGN UP, COMMITMENT IS IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE DRIVING WITH OTHERS OR SHARING A ROOM.

REGISTRATION IS ONLY OPEN FOR A LIMIT TIME.
