Photography in Two Distinctly Different Areas

SANP's May Speaker is Nye Simmons

Nye Simmons will present a program about photography in two distinctly different areas, swamps, and deserts. Caddo Lake and the South Louisiana swamps will be featured along with Death Valley.  Some of you may have visited these areas, but you will want to listen and see Nye's prespective of both areas.  You will discover that both areas are great places for photographing.

Nye is the author or co-author of 6 books including Blue Ridge Parkway Celebration (a 214 page large format book), Blue Ridge Parkway, An Extraordinary Journey Among the World’s Oldest Mountains (with Jerry Greer), Best of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Tennessee Wonder and Light, the Smoky Mountains Photographer’s Guide (with Bill Campbell), and Great Smoky Mountains Wonder and Light (with Jerry Greer and Bill Lea). Nye was a contributing writer-photographer for the Ultimate Guide to Digital Nature Photography.

Nye has been published in various regional and national magazines including National Geographic Adventure and National Geographic Traveler as well as Sierra Club Calendars. I live in Knoxville, TN in the shadow of the Great Smokies. His latest book is an updated and revised guide — The Greater Smoky Mountains Photographer’s Guide.

In addition to publishing books and calendars, he offers small group photography workshops, both scheduled and bespoke, with an emphasis on photographic seeing and field techniques. Nye is on the web at www.nyesimmons.com and Instagram at #nyesimmonsphotography.

You will not want to miss out on this presentation.

See you at our May Club meeting. We are in a new meeting room in the Goins Auditorium.  Straight back when you enter.  Remember to arrive early and socialize with other club members.  If you ordered a cap/hat that you have not picked up you can pick it up at the May meeting.
