Description of the event:

We will discuss the selection and organization of pictures and soundtracks into a slideshow that portrays the beauty and wonders of nature.  Adobe Lightroom (slideshow module) and Adobe Premier Elements will be used to produce a slideshow of bears encountered on a bike ride around Cades Cove.

I will project my work on a large screen for a more hands-on learning format.  During the second part of this session, you will produce a slideshow of your images with my help as needed.  The images that you select for your slideshow should include images that provide a sense of place as well as context.  For example, my pictures of one group of bears may include a group shot and three or more shots of individual bears with different expressions or activities.  Then a few pictures of the road at a couple of points would be included as a transition to a next group of bear pictures.  A few of my slideshows are found at www.frames-of-reflection.com/slideshows.

What's Next?

This focus group could evolve into a monthly meeting where a member of the group shares a 5 – 20 minute slideshow, followed by a Q & A type discussion on technique, organization, and subject of the slides.  We will also discuss presenting your slideshows at nursing homes, assisted living facilities or other facilities where residents can no longer enjoy the world outside.

What To Bring?

Bring your laptop with Lightroom or Adobe Premier Elements and a collection of 30 - 50 (or more) digital images to produce a slideshow. As an option to jumpstart your own slideshow, I can provide you with a collection of images so you can quickly learn how to use the slideshow software.  Be sure your battery is fully charged and capable of a 90-minute session. There will be some power outlets. Bring an extension cord if you need one.

Water bottles are allowed.
