Spring time in Cades Cove is unique. This is an early morning walk to see what birds are out and any other wildlife, maybe a frog.  We will visit the Admin Trail. The distance will vary as to how far we walk.  We might check out a couple of ponds that are a short distance from the road. You will want to wear shoes that you can tred water with as we may have some areas that will have water on the trail due to the recent weather.

Location Description:

Cades Cove Loop Road and various areas off the road.  Remember you will need a parking pass or carpool with someone that has a parking pass.  You can purchase daily passes at Cades Cove Kiosk area. The annual pass at vistor centers or online.

Learning opportunities:

This will give you a chance to explore the area without all the traffic.  Bring your short lens and your long lens.  A tripod may be handy for some of the stops.  You should get a chance to explore with some things you usually do not get a chance.  Maybe a tadpole or two.

What to bring:

  • Your favorite DSLR camera and lens. Extra batteries.
  • Bring cold weather gear.
  • Shoes that can are water resistant.
  • Tripod can be useful .
  • Rain gear for yourself and a rain cover for your camera in case we have rain.
