CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST
Leader: Dale Potter Phone: (865) 773-8114 E-mail: dalepotter55@gmail.com
Meeting place: Douglas Dam Overlook Way
Time: 1:30 pm
Registration available: Beginning today

Sorry for the confusion, this event is Sunday at 1:30 pm. I thought I had caught all the dates but missed one that has Saturday.
Let's check out the eagles at Douglas Dam. We will meet at the Douglas Dam Overlook and then proceed to the River Way Road to setup. The eagles will be feeding out of the tailwaters from the dam. Most of the feeding will start later in the afternoon, but the start time will allow you time to set up and practice on some of the birds hanging out in the area. The number of eagles will vary.
You will want to bring extra batteries and extra cards in the event you are shooting in a fast continuous mode.
While some photographers have success with auto ISO, you may find it easier to use your histogram and set your ISO. Some of the automatic ISOs go very high and create a lot of extra noise.
Capturing eagles is similar but different than sandhill cranes. It can be a fun and enjoyable experience as you catch on to keeping track of them.
No, the eagle above is from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. There are similar eagles at Douglas Dam. It will take a long lens to capture them in the trees at Douglas.
You may want a tripod to rest your arm from handholding.
Long lens will be needed.
