Southern Appalachian Nature Photographers

Columbine, K. Chiles Columbine by Kendall Chiles, 2016 Salon, 1st in Plants.

SANP is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to photography of the natural environment. Our motto is "Sharing the Awareness of Nature through Photography." Founded in 1991, SANP's home base is the Knoxville, TN, area, which abounds in superb nature photo opportunities. We are near the Appalachian Mountains, the Smokies, and the lakes, streams and pastoral valleys of East Tennessee.

We have nine meetings a year, held the last Tuesday of the month. We do not meet in December or in June and July.

Our meetings feature presentations by highly skilled nature photographers from our region as well as nationally known artists from across the country. In addition, we have numerous field trips and seminars which are free to our more than 150 members. Our annual Salon is in February during which we display the entries and award hundreds of dollars in merchandise to the winners.

Club Officers & Committees

The SANP Board of Directors consists of nine elected members and the chairpersons of each of the standing committees. Each year, three new board members are elected for a service period of three years. The Board appoints the President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
